Adult Training

Every scout deserves a trained leader. . .

  • Every parent in our Troop is a leader.  In order to provide a quality program for our boys, adult training is necessary.

Youth Protection Training (YPT)

  • All leaders are required to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) and all adults are strongly encouraged to do so.  If you will be assisting in a den or going on a campout, you need Youth Protection Training.  YPT is an online course that can be completed online in about an hour.  You may access it online through the BSA MyScouting Learning Center.

New Leader Essentials/Leader Specific Training

  • Leaders are strongly encouraged to receive New Leader Essential and Leader Specific Training.  This training helps to orient you to scouting and give you the tools to be successful.  This course is offered often.  Please see the BSA MyScouting Learning Center and the Bay Area Council Training Calendar for course dates and times.

Other Adult Training

  • There are many other adult training opportunities available.  Our Pack needs more people who are IOLS/OWLS trained, ASM trained, and leaders with other specialized training. .

  • Please see the Bay Area Council Training Course Descriptions for a description of available training.
  • Please see the Bay Area Council Training Schedule for dates and times of available training.

Record Keeping

  • Please make sure you keep pack leader up to date on your training.  When you complete adult training, make sure you get a training card or certificate.  KEEP A COPY for yourself and give one to Lisa Staton (trooptraining (at) bsatroop2322 . com) so that we may keep our Pack records up to date.

NOTE:  Every time you participate in a camp or district activity – you will be asked to provide a copy of your training certificates.  Make several copies and keep them handy – it will make life much easier later.
